We would like to thank everyone who provided their valuable feedback on this page via our surveys. Your input will help us to develop our approach for Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the Clarence Valley. We have closed the consultation process, and the survey results are available in the “Documents” section of this page. Our project team will keep you updated on key outcomes as we move forward.
What were the surveys about?
The first survey identified community support for Clarence Valley Council to facilitate more public EV chargers. The second survey captured the community's view on three off-street car parks shortlisted in Grafton, Maclean and Yamba.
What are the costs?
The cost of public EV chargers can be recovered by introducing a charging fee for users. In this way, the overall cost to council and rate payers is minimal. In some instances, public EV chargers can even generate revenue.
Why is Clarence Valley Council looking at this?
The number of EVs on our roads is rapidly increasing as more affordable models enter the market and the Federal and State Government provide incentives to lower the cost. The growing demand for these cleaner, more efficient vehicles has led to greater demands for publicly available EV charging infrastructure.
Public EV chargers can be used by anyone. They provide charging for those without off-street parking and those visiting the region. The availability of public EV chargers is also likely to have an impact on tourism as EV owners seek “EV-friendly” destinations.
