Thankyou for sharing your feedback on the proposed concept design! We have carefully reviewed your input and identified several key points that will help guide the development of the project as we move into the Detailed Design Stage.

Project Updates:

  • A formal bus bay will be added along Argyle St to provide a safe drop-off point for school & community buses, ensuring a safe location for children to access the Maclean Olympic Pool.
  • The proposed kerb extension at the unmarked crossing on McLachlan St has been removed from the design and replaced with a kerb ramp near the intersection, connecting to the pool and Argyle St footpath.
  • The existing footpath will be extended along Argyle St, connecting to the footpath at Centenary Drive and Argyle St.
  • The kerb build-out at the intersection, including the 'No Entry' will be extended along McLachlan St to replace the on-road section and create a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists traveling along McLachlan St.

We're seeking your input to help shape the road upgrade and to improve accessibility along McLachlan St and Argyle St in Maclean.

This project focuses on resolving pavement issues at the intersection of McLachlan and Argyle Streets. Given the presence of various utilities and storm water systems beneath the pavement, we’ll be consulting geotechnical experts for guidance on rehabilitation.

Additionally, we plan to connect the existing shared path from the McLachlan Street tennis courts to Rotary Park, including a crossing point to the Maclean Centenary Pool.

A central aspect of the proposed design is to modify traffic flow at the intersection of McLachlan Street and Argyle Street. To address the current variation in road widths and enhance the shared path connection, we propose adjustments to the traffic movements on the eastern leg of Argyle Street.
